It was a time when there were many child-friendly shows being aired on TV. Besides, there weren't so many channels to choose from and parents didn't have to worry too much about leaving kids in front of the boob tube. Many shows made for a good learning experience:
Documentaries about Japan, Korea, Earth Science, etc.
Cartoons like Superbook, Flying House, Voltes 5, Voltron, Cedie and Princess Sarah
Educational TV Shows like Sesame Street and Batibot
Movies in Black and White of LVN and Sampaguita Studios
They fostered interest for learning and helped kids identify with the good guys. How about the TV babies of this generation? Ever wondered what kids are watching and learning on TV these days?
My little sister was trying to memorize this poem for a school program. She recited it aloud more than a hundred times I ended up learning the poem as well. Goes to show that we pick up some things in life by osmosis.
